Not a single person would sign up for this, sadly, as we feel like deep down this is a very personal set of information that nobody wants shared online.
Plus it would take Facebook to even creepier levels (how is that possible??), no matter how good the intentions are!
Anyway, would it be like checking in? LOLz!
Here's what one of the researchers at University of North Carolinabelieves:
“When we looked at the networks, we could connect many of the cases to sexual encounters, and when we asked who they hung out with, who they knew, we could connect 80 percent of the cases."
While that's certainly nobel, we just don't think people will give up their privacy like that! We're all for opening up discussions, though, and reducing social stigma. We just don't see people wanting the whole world to know.
There IS a virus based app that might do us some good, though:University of California, San Diego, has created an app that predicts your risk of catching the flu, using status updates from your social network.
If they released this STD App, would U take part??
