If you believe the Twitterverse, it's not a question of whether Adele is ailing, but to what degree.
As everyone knows by now, the English songbird was forced to cancel the remainder of her tour and promotional appearances for 2011 so she can undergo throat surgery to fix a problem with her vocal chord.
Her announcement has done little to stem rumors spreading like wild fire on Twitter—including users trending #PrayforAdele—that the 23-year-old might be suffering from something worse than what her camp let on: namely throat cancer.

FALSE - According to Adele's publicist, rumors that she's been stricken with throat cancer are, in fact, just plain wrong.

"We would like to reiterate that Adele is to undergo surgery for a hemorrhaged vocal chord," the rep tells E!.
"All reports regarding any other condition are 100 percent false."
While it's not life-threatening cancer by any means, the illness—caused by bleeding due to swelling of the vocal chords—is still serious in that it could jeopardize the songstress' beautiful singing voice and her career.
Per the Voice Care Center at Duke University, "a hemorrhage left untreated or occurring repeatedly may result in scarring of the vocal folds, which is a condition that is much harder to treat and has permanent effects on voice quality."
