According to People magazine, the acting/singing duo took time off from their weekend in Winnipeg to visit D’Arcy’s Animal Rescue Centre, where they adopted a 10-week-old husky mix they eventually dubbed Baylor. The dog will presumably join Gomez’s five other rescue dogs.
“They spent a lot of time with the puppies,” the rescue’s chief executive officer, D’Arcy Johnston, told the magazine. “I was told that (Gomez) was missing the dogs that she has at home.”
After going though “the standard screening process,” Gomez was able to add Baylor to her growing collection of designer rescue dogs (now at six!) that day, because nothing says I care about animals than leaving them at home while you gallivant around the world.
“Baylor probably would have had a bad life or a very short life,” Johnston said, taking the opportunity to plug the shelter. “But he got rescued and brought to our shelter and is now going to live a very good life.”
The next day, an ill Gomez was in London, Ont., and took to her new best friend — Twitter — to TMI about her gastro-intestinal problems.
“After 12 hours of medicine, tea, 1374 cans of soup and throwing up right when I get off-stage, ending my night with Baylor watching friends is perfect,” she wrote.
