A couple that underwent kidney surgery today at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is recovering and doing well, hospital officials say.
Terry Lee gave his girlfriend, Trisha Beckwith, his kidney earlier today, Valentine's Day.
Beckwith, 31, suffers from Lupus, which attacked both of her kidneys. Lee, 32, found out that he was a match four months after the Chicago couple started dating.

Terry Lee and Trisha Beckwith had only been dating for about four months when she was diagnosed with Lupus, an autoimmune disease.
Her kidneys were not functioning, and she was told she needed a transplant.
The couple was in Nashville from Chicago, traveling here to have the procedure done at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Her family was quickly ruled out because they all have high blood pressure.

But Lee did.
"The way I measure love is this: If you take the person out of the equation, and don't like the way your life looks without them, you are probably in love."
So, at her hospital bedside, he told her he wanted to give her his kidney.
His blood type was O, and he was a match.

"The decision was easy," Lee said before he went into surgery this morning. "I care about her, love her, and want her to live a normal life."
Beckwith is in her hospital room waiting until her 9:45 a.m. surgery.
She said she is not nervous.
Just hopes Lee is OK.
